At EFCO, our commitment goes beyond our products. Sustainability and environmental responsibility are important to how we do business. From product fabrication to shipping and recycling, we work hard to incorporate sustainable practices into all stages of our manufacturing process.
MANUFACTURING PRACTICES
We strive to be self-sufficient, extruding more than 95% of the aluminum that’s needed to fabricate our products — which includes pre- and post-consumer recycled content. We also finish our framing materials, perform our own glass tempering and fabricate a majority of the insulating glass units used in our products on-site.
In an effort to reduce our impact on the environment, we operate a wastewater treatment facility, used to pretreat wastewater prior to its release into our city’s water systems. We also use the latest in Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer technology to reduce VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions from the paint line by 97.75%.
RECYCLING PRACTICES
To ensure we’re implementing sustainable practices from start to finish, we employ recycling companies and waste management services to divert our crating, packing, paper waste products and used electronics away from landfills. We also recycle our cullet and aluminum scraps back through our vendors.
